A traditional green tea madd of pan roasted sencha green tea, sourced from Kagoshima , Japan. Strong roasted, nutty frontnote with a suncle smokiness.
Hojicha, or Houjicha is a green tea that traditionally made by gently roasting the tea on a cast iron pan until it becomes dark and golden. We roast our Hojicha in house in Sydney.
Famous for its roasted nuttiness and smokiness, this tea is drunk as an every-day green tea, hot or cold and can pair well with milk.
Just make sure to brew it at a lower temperature (see brew instructions below)
Country of Origin: Japan (green tea).
Harvest Period: Early March 2026 (Spring)
Brewing Instructions
- Use 1-1.5 teaspoon per cup (220mL).
- 80 Celsius water (fill kettle half-way, boil, then top with tap water).
- Allow to steep for 1 - 1.5 mins the first brew, then subsequently 3-4 mins each time.
- This tea can be brewed 2-3 times.
